Kentucky State Seal
Kentucky State Seal
Adopted in 1742 , the Kentucky state seal features the state motto: "United We Stand, Divided We Fall." Ironically, the state being divided during the war, the provisional Confederate Government developed their own seal (an arm grasping the last of 13 stars) and was recognized by Richmond, incorporating the state into the Confederacy, even though they never exercised any significant influence of power over the state and its people. It would later mostly disolve following the events of 1862 and the North's subsiquent take over of the state mosty through internal support for the Union.
