The state of West Virginia Contributed a significant amount of men and resources to the Union cause. Not something that is always expressed in any history textbook, but those of us whom seek more truth and fact about the war know this and more.
The 7th West Virginia Infantry is a prime example of this perpetuated by their monument at Gettysburg and the regiments war record.
This badge was commissioned for the modern day group who are descendants of those members of the 7th.
